” Engineering and maintenance firm CoCEPTIO is primarily active in the life sciences and high-value industrial sectors. Founder and CEO Damien Bachelart explains how his company, with over 60 employees, covers a broad spectrum of missions and projects.
What are the specificities of your company?
Damien Bachelart: “Unlike other firms, we cover industrial projects from A to Z, from their definition to maintenance. Our expertise spans both technical and regulatory aspects. We aim to digitize and automate low-value-added engineering tasks, allowing engineers to focus on high-value-added ones. Among other services, we offer our clients immersive experiences with full 3D modeling of the factories we design. Additionally, in our CSR approach, we’ve conducted a proof of concept in artificial intelligence with a major pharmaceutical company for intelligent regulation settings. This demonstrated a 27% reduction in energy consumption for air treatment units.”
Who are your services aimed at?
D. B.: “We cover a wide range of projects, both large-scale and smaller, with multiple stakeholders engaged in crucial societal issues: spinoffs – Exo Biologics –, parks – Biopark, Légiapark, Quantum Biospace –, renowned pharmaceutical industries, hospitals, etc. In reality, CoCEPTIO is involved in most projects in the life sciences sector. This includes prestigious clients like Catalent, for whom we recently completed Europe’s first commercial production CDMO center, spanning over 5,000 m² at the Gosselies site. But we also work with SMEs and startups; while they may master their processes, they often turn to us to build the corresponding infrastructure.”
Examples of projects?
D. B.: “Among others, we’re working on the Genesis project in gene therapy for UCB. Another example: we’ve supported UniD Manufacturing, based in Liège, throughout their project: land acquisition, project definition, setting up specifications, coordinating works with architects, developing all maintenance plans, etc. These references provide us with promising future prospects.”
